Animal Control Officers responded to a unique call this spring: a piglet running in traffic on Dolores Street in the Mission District. By the time Sgt. Ellie Sadler arrived at the scene, a crowd of good Samaritans was rounding up the precocious porker. After a merry chase, good fortune smiled down upon the piglet. She was captured safely by Brother Damian of the Society of Saint Francis. Only in San Francisco could a wayward piglet be rescued by a representative of the Patron Saint of Animals. No one came to the shelter to claim her and Frances, as she’s now called, was adopted by a family in Sebastopol.
